Paul Hogarth

Paul Hogarth, OBE, RA (born Arthur Hoggarth) (4 October 1917 – 27 December 2001) was an English artist and illustrator. and aged 6 moved in 1923 with his family to Manchester. His father was also named Arthur Hoggarth. He attended the Manchester School of Art from 1934 to 1936, where he became involved in the Artists' International Association and the Communist Party of Great Britain. After 1936 he attended Saint Martin's School of Art in London, and drove lorries in the Spanish Civil War for the International Brigade.
