Chris Black (born September 14, 1982) is an American entrepreneur, author, podcaster, fashion brand owner and owns two creative consulting agencies. Done To Death Projects and Lobby Partners & Associates. Black is known for his pop culture podcast How Long Gone that he co-hosts with Jason Stewart. Black has a GQ Column is called Pulling Weeds and previously had a column with New York (magazine), and The Strategist called Ask Chris Black.

Black was born at Piedmont Atlanta Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia (U.S.state) and grew up in Conyers, Georgia. He currently lives between West Hollywood, California, and Chinatown, Manhattan, New York City.

Career Black got his start as a shoe salesman in Atlanta working at retailers Abbadabba's, Wish, and Standard.

In 2003 Black got his start in the music business as the manager of Atlanta pop-punk band Cartel (band). Black and the band grew up together in Conyers, Georgia, where they attended Heritage High School (Conyers, Georgia). Black helped the band get a record deal with Epic Records and the reality show Band in a Bubble on MTV.

Black is one-half of the quarantine-born bi-coastal pop culture and Bro-cast podcast How Long Gone with long time friend Jason Stewart, a podcaster, and DJ known for working with Steve Aoki’s Dim Mak Records in the early 2000s and having done remixes of Bloc Party, Sbtrkt and Rihanna.

How Long Gone How Long Gone focuses on culture, music, fashion, pop culture and media. How Long Gone produces up to three episodes per week.

The podcast was born out of a Twitter joke between Chris Black and Jason Stewart and early guests included the actress and writer Tavi Gevinson, the writer Cat Marnell, the American singer Phoebe Bridgers and the playwright and actor Jeremy O. Harris (2).

By February 2023 How Long Gone had done over 450 episodes and had guests such as DJ-producer Mark Ronson, American actor and musician Joe Keery, The 1975’s Matty Healy, Bret Easton Ellis, Charli XCX, British journalist Jo Ellison, American Baker and food writer Claire Ptak, The New Yorker’s Naomi Fry, Will Welch, American actor and fashion designer Whitney Port, Japanese Breakfast and New York Time’s Jacob Gallagher (writer).

How Long Gone got its name from the Brooks & Dunn song.

How Long Gone’s first live show was in Atlanta, Georgia (U.S.state), at The Earl on October 1st, 2021 with guest American Film Programmer Millie De Chirico and Black’s mother, Lynda Black.

The podcast released a double CD album "Adds Colour" on the label Jagjaguwar which came out December 17 of 2021.

Writing and photography work Black also writes for the likes of New York Magazine, Vanity Fair (magazine), Vogue (magazine), Highsnobiety, 032c, is a columnist for GQ Magazine, and creative consults for brands Thom Browne, Balenciaga, J. Crew, Stüssy and New Balance.

Black also has a photo zine GOOD MORNING, GOOD NIGHT, that first launched at Ursula Bookshop in Chelsea, Manhattan in New York City and has done 2 zines with Friend Editions, and one titled Slow Education and which comes from a Silver Jews song.

Black has also shot for Interview (magazine), Cultured (magazine), Highsnobiety, Neptune Papers, Thom Browne, Fendi, Disney, J. Crew, and Anti- (record label).

Black released his first book I Know You Think You Know It All in 2015.

Hanover Black launched his first Americana-inspired clothing line, Hanover, December 5, 2025 and hosted a one-day pop-up at the furniture and décor showroom TIWA Select. The name Hanover comes from the street Black grew up on in Atlanta, Georgia (U.S.state)
