Angelo Mauri

Angelo Mauri (1873–1936) was an Italian journalist, economist, academic and anti-Fascist politician. He briefly served as the minister of agriculture between 1921 and 1922. Due to his anti-Fascist views and activities, he resigned from his teaching post in 1933.

Early life and education Mauri was born in Milan on 21 December 1873. He was elected to the provincial council in Milan in 1902. Mauri was one of the founders the People's Party in 1919 and elected as a deputy the same year. After the election he served as the deputy president of the Parliament.

Mauri was appointed minister of agriculture in the cabinet led by Prime Minister Ivanoe Bonomi in July 1921. He worked as a professor of economics at different higher education institutions until his resignation in 1933 when the Fascist government required all university lecturers to join the National Fascist Party.
