Roy Belliveau

Roy Nelson Belliveau (born April 12, 1929) is an American former professional basketball player. He played college basketball for the Seton Hall Pirates. Belliveau played professionally in the American Basketball League (ABL) and Eastern Professional Basketball League (EPBL). He won an EPBL championship in 1954 and was named to the All-EPBL Second Team in 1955. Belliveau worked as a high school teacher and basketball coach in New Jersey after his retirement from playing.

Early life Raised in Springfield Township, Union County, New Jersey, Belliveau was one of five brothers who attained athletic success while attending Jonathan Dayton High School, where he graduated in 1948. He was an all-state basketball player and set several records in the javelin throw. He was a starter on the basketball team and scored 652 career points. He declined to play for the Knicks because he did not believe that their financial offer was sufficient. Belliveau also refused to join them because their offers were insufficient. He won an EPBL championship with the Billies in 1954. Belliveau was named to the All-EPBL Second Team in 1955. He missed the 1955–56 season due to a stint in the United States Army and returned to the Billies for the 1956–57 season.

In February 1958, Belliveau was signed by the Easton Madisons who were in need of replacements for players who had to play in an Army tournament.

Coaching career Belliveau had his first coaching role at South Brunswick High School during its inaugural year in 1960 and introduced basketball to the school.

Personal life Belliveau has three children with his wife.
