Born 1944. Richard Villems is an Estonian geneticist, biophysicist and university teacher.

Richard Villems (born 28 November 1944 in Pärnu) is an Estonian geneticist.

Biography From 2004 to 2014, he was President of Estonian Academy of Sciences. From 2009 to 2014, he was Director of Estonian Biocentre. In the Spring of 2008, Villems was a Residential Fellow at the Swedish Collegium for Advanced Study in Uppsala, Sweden.
