Ongart Cheamcharoenpornkul (, born August 10, 1966 in Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya) is a Thai actor, filmmaker best known for his role as Sergeant Paphan in the Death Whisperer film series, appearing in all three installments released in 2023, 2024, and 2025, as well as the prequel spin-off Death Whisperer: Saming the Werebeast, released in 2026.
Career Graduated from the Faculty of Painting, Sculpture and Graphic Arts at Silpakorn University as a member of its 42nd graduating class. He began his acting career as a supporting actor in Something About Art, a comedy drama film about art students at Silpakorn University in the 1980s. The film was directed by future National Artist Pieak Poster and was also loosely based on his own life.
He later moved into behind-the-scenes work, serving as a producer, screenwriter, art director, and creative for numerous television programs, television dramas, and films, most of which were comedies.
After the 2010s, he began returning to acting roles. One of his memorable comedic performances was opposite comedian Kom Chuanchuen as an ophthalmologist and patient, respectively, in the 2010 horror comedy H2-Oh!, which he also directed. The exchange became a popular meme online. He later became widely recognized for his role as Sergeant Paphan, a former soldier who had fought in the Vietnam War and possessed knowledge of traditional medicine and occult practices. In Death Whisperer (2023), Paphan serves as a senior partner and mentor-like figure to Yak, the hot-tempered protagonist, as they confront various supernatural entities. The film was a major success, leading to two sequels released in the following years and a spin-off released in 2026.
Personal life Ongart was born into a family in which his father worked as a bus station manager, while his mother was a Thai of Hakka Chinese descent from Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya in central Thailand. His younger sister worked in the river transportation industry, operating tugboats along the Chao Phraya river, where she later drowned and died. He is married and has one daughter.
