Miguel Mancera Aguayo (18 December 1932 – 10 August 2026) was a Mexican economist. He served as general director of the Bank of Mexico, the country's central bank, from 1982 until 1998.
Early life and career Mancera Aguayo was born in Mexico City on 18 December 1932, to Rafael Mancera Ortiz and María Luisa Aguayo Cendejas. He received a bachelor's degree in economics from the Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México (ITAM) and a master's degree in economics from Yale University.
Personal life and death Mancera was married to Sonia Corcuera Corcuera. He received the Order of Rio Branco (Brazil, 1983) and was an officer of the French Légion d'honneur (1990). He died on 10 August 2026, at the age of 93.
