Personal life and death Melanie, his wife of 55 years, a Mexican national, was also a skilled croquet player. She was born on 12 May 1916 and died on 16 April 2007, aged 90.

Marsac died of cardiac arrest on 6 May 2007, aged 92, less than three weeks after the passing of his wife.
