Born 1961. Martin Vingron is an Austrian bioinformatician, university teacher, artificial intelligence researcher and mathematician.
Martin Vingron (born October 5 1961) is an Austrian mathematician working in the fields of bioinformatics and computational biology. Since 2000, he has been Director of the Max Planck Institute for Molecular Genetics.
Education Vingron grew up in Vienna, and gained his Diploma in Mathematics from the University of Vienna in 1985. His thesis studied the applications of multiple sequence alignment in molecular biology. He was also elected as a Fellow of the German Academy of Sciences Leopoldina in 2004. In 2012, Vingron was elected as a Fellow of the International Society for Computational Biology.
