Born 1952. Marcus McLaurine is an American jazz bassist.

Marcus McLaurine (born May 7, 1952) is an American jazz bassist, composer, and educator.

Biography McLaurine was born on May 7, 1952, in Omaha, Nebraska. He studied music at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln, before moving to Los Angeles. McLaurine joined the military in 1976 and played in the 590th Air Force band. After four years, he left the air force and moved to New York City. They recorded together numerous times. McLaurine recorded several albums under the leadership of pianist Abdullah Ibrahim in the 1990s. McLaurine has been an instructor in jazz at William Paterson University since 1997. Soul Step in 2011, and One Mind in 2012.
