Li Jinming

Li Jinming (; born August 1941) is a retired Chinese politician who served as Chairman of the Zhejiang Provincial Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) from 2003 to 2007. He previously served as Party Secretary of Hangzhou, Secretary of the Zhejiang Provincial Commission for Discipline Inspection, and Deputy Secretary of the Zhejiang Provincial Committee of the Chinese Communist Party. He was also deputy director of the Population, Resources and Environment Committee of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference.

Biography

Li was born in August 1941 in Nanyang, Henan. He graduated from the Department of Coal Mining at Jiaozuo Mining Institute (now Henan Polytechnic University) in 1966. He joined the Chinese Communist Party in May 1964 and began his professional career in September 1967.

Li initially worked as a technician at the Laibin Coal Mine under the Ministry of Coal Industry before serving in several administrative positions, including at Factory No. 779 of the Ministry of Electronics Industry. He later returned to Henan, where he held a succession of government and Party posts in Nanyang, including positions in the regional commercial bureau, the regional finance commission, and the CCP organization in Sheqi County. He subsequently became a member of the CCP Nanyang Prefectural Committee, Head of its Publicity Department, Deputy Secretary of the prefectural committee, and later Secretary of the CCP Nanyang Prefectural Committee. He also served as a member of the Henan Provincial Committee of the Chinese Communist Party.

Li was transferred to Zhejiang in the early 1990s, where he served as Secretary-General of the Zhejiang Provincial Committee of the Chinese Communist Party before becoming Secretary of the Chinese Communist Party Committee of Hangzhou and Chairman of the Standing Committee of the Hangzhou Municipal People's Congress. In October 1993, he was elected Secretary of the CCP Hangzhou Municipal Committee, and in December of the same year he was elected to the Standing Committee of the Zhejiang Provincial Committee of the Chinese Communist Party.

From December 1998 to June 2002, Li served as Deputy Secretary of the Zhejiang Provincial Committee of the Chinese Communist Party. Between July 2000 and July 2003, he concurrently served as Secretary of the Zhejiang Provincial Commission for Discipline Inspection. In June 2002, he was re-elected as a member of the Standing Committee of the Zhejiang Provincial Committee while continuing as Deputy Secretary and Secretary of the Provincial Commission for Discipline Inspection.

In January 2003, Li was elected Chairman of the Zhejiang Provincial Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference. In February 2007, he was appointed deputy director of the Population, Resources and Environment Committee of the National Committee of the CPPCC, and continued in the same position following his election to the 11th CPPCC National Committee in March 2008.

Li was elected a member of the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection at the 16th National Congress of the Chinese Communist Party. He also served as a member of the 10th and 11th National Committees of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference.
