Lived 1927 – 2017 (aged 89). Kenton Stewart Wall Campbell was an Australian paleontologist.

Kenton Stewart Wall Campbell (9 September 1927 – 17 June 2017), known as Ken Campbell, was an Australian palaeontologist and academic.

Early life and education Campbell was born in Ipswich, Queensland. He was the son of two store clerks who moved their family to Boonah during the Great Depression. He attended primary school in Ipswich, Boonah and Coorparoo.

Career Campbell was assistant geologist with the Queensland Geological Survey from 1950 to 1951, assisting in the creation of a 40-mile geological map for the Geological Society of Australia using aerial photographs at the suggestion of Dorothy Hill. and following his retirement in 1992, became emeritus professor.

Campbell died on 17 June 2017 at the age of 89. His wife Daphne predeceased him. He was survived by their three children. Royal Society of New South Wales 1975 Fellow, Australian Academy of Science 1983 Mawson Medal, Australian Academy of Science 1986

Legacy Alone and in collaboration with others, in particular Dick Barwick, Ken Campbell published more than 40 papers on the evolution, palaeoecology and phylogenetics of fossil lungfish.
