Kai Beckmann

Education Beckmann studied computer science at the Technical University of Darmstadt from 1984 to 1989 and completed a doctorate in economics in 1998.

Career At Merck Beckmann began his professional career at Merck Group in 1989 as an IT systems consultant. Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung described Beckmann as a company "institution" (German: Urgestein), noting that he had held a variety of roles at Merck over more than 35 years. From 2017 to 2025, he was also Vice President of the Confederation of German Employers' Associations (BDA). From 2016, he served as Member of the Supervisory Board of Bundesdruckerei, the German federal printing office, and chaired that board from 2023 until May 2026. He further holds positions as Chairman of the EU side of the EU-Japan Business Round Table (BRT), and as Member of the University Council of the Technical University of Darmstadt.
