Horace M. Wade

Horace Milton Wade (March 12, 1916 – June 14, 2001) was a former general in the United States Air Force and a former Vice Chief of Staff of the United States Air Force.

Biography

Early life Wade was born in 1916, in Magnolia, Arkansas. After completing high school in Wortham, Texas, he returned to Arkansas, and graduated from the Magnolia Agricultural and Mechanical Junior College (now known as Southern Arkansas University) in 1936. His military career began in 1934 when he became a member of Company D, 153rd Infantry Regiment, Arkansas National Guard. He entered the Army Air Corps Flying School at Randolph Field in Texas in 1937. Upon graduating and receiving his wings, in October 1938, he was commissioned as a second lieutenant, Air Corps Reserve, U.S. Army.

Over his career as a pilot, he maintained his proficiency in multijet aircraft and has more than 8,450 hours of flying time.
