Hermann Neef

Hermann Neef (2 September 1904 in Templin – 18 November 1950 in Berlin) was a German senior customs official, Reich civil servants' leader and Member of the Reichstag during the Nazi era.

Early life and education The son of a secondary school teacher, he attended primary and secondary school in St. Goarshausen and, after attending a Gymnasium in Oberlahnstein, passed his Abitur in 1922. From September 1922, Neef pursued a civil service career in the customs service, where he rose to the position of senior customs secretary by 1928.

Political career Neef joined the SA in 1923. He later attained the rank of SA Brigadeführer. On 4 July 1925, he joined the NSDAP (membership number 9,249). In the NSDAP, he became district leader in the Lahntal district in 1929 and reached the position of Kreisleiter in 1930. From 1929 to 1931, Neef was a city councillor in Frankfurt am Main.

Civil service leadership In the civil servants' department of the Reich leadership of the NSDAP, he became propaganda and organizational leader in 1931 and reached the position of head of a main office and Regierungsrat in 1934.

Neef served as honorary chairman of administrative and supervisory boards of companies in which mainly civil servants were employed.

Legal and administrative organizations Neef had been a member of the Academy for German Law since October 1933 and headed its committee for civil service law from 1938 to 1941.
