Dan Runge

Daniel Runge (born January 23, 1961) is a Canadian former professional football player who played two seasons in the Canadian Football League (CFL) with the Edmonton Eskimos and Calgary Stampeders. He played CIAU football at the University of Guelph.

Early life Daniel Runge was born on January 23, 1961, in Toronto, Ontario. He first played football at Seneca College in Toronto, where he was a linebacker and receiver. He then played two years of CIAU football for the Guelph Gryphons of the University of Guelph from 1982 to 1983. Teammate Emilio Fraietta nicknamed Runge "Goliath" due to his size". He dressed in all 16 games for the Eskimos during the 1984 season and caught five passes for 82 yards. Runge dressed in the first seven games of the 1985 season for the Eskimos, recording eight receptions for 87 yards. He dressed in the final nine games of the season for the Stampeders, catching 19 passes for 224 yards, as Calgary went 3–13. He was released on June 20, 1986.
