William Krantz Smyth (April 8, 1922 – November 6, 1966) was an American professional football player and coach. He played college football for Notre Dame (1940–1941), Cincinnati, and Penn State, and had his college career interrupted by service in the United States Marine Corps during World War II. He played for the Los Angeles Rams from 1947 to 1950 and was an assistant coach for the Ottawa Rough Riders from 1956 to 1966.
Early life Smyth was born in 1922 in Batavia, Ohio. He attended Roger Bacon High School in St. Bernard, Ohio, a village located within Cincinnati. In the fall of 1945, he played for the Marines All-Star football team. He died of acute heart failure in 1966 at age 44 in Ottawa.
