He was elected to the Tamil Nadu legislative assembly from Mylapore constituency as a Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam candidate in 1962, and 1967 elections. He was elected from Egmore constituency as a Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam candidate in 1971 election.
