William Wallace Duncan (December 20, 1839 – March 2, 1908) was an American bishop of the Methodist Episcopal Church, South, elected in 1886.

Biography William Wallace Duncan was born on December 20, 1839 (some sources have December 27, 1839 ), in Boydton, Mecklenburg County, Virginia, of Scots-Irish descent and of scholarship. He was the son of David Duncan, and of University of Edinburgh in Scotland. David settled in Kentucky, then migrated to Virginia, where he was a professor of ancient languages at Randolph–Macon College. ) David later moved his family to Spartanburg, South Carolina, where he had accepted a faculty position at Wofford College.
