About Vikramabahu of Ruhuna
Lived 1017 – 1041 (aged 23–24). Vikramabahu of Ruhuna was a sovereign.
Vikramabahu I , (sinhala: වික්රමබාහු) originally named Kassapa / kashyapa VI, a ruler of Ruhuna (Rohana) in southern Sri Lanka who reigned from approximately 1029 to 1041 CE. He was a son of Mahinda V, the last king of the Anuradhapura Kingdom of the House of Lambakanna II. Following his father's death in Chola captivity in 1029, the young Kassapa was established as ruler in Ruhuna and assumed the regnal name Vikramabahu.
Vikramabahu ruled during the period of Chola domination of Rajarata. His effective authority was centred in Ruhuna, which remained a major base of resistance to Chola rule. The Cholas made repeated efforts to capture the young ruler and suppress resistance in the south, but their attempts to establish effective control over Ruhuna were unsuccessful.
