He is a former member of the House of Representatives, where he represented the Ikwuano-Umuahia federal constituency of Abia State. Udo was preceded by Emeka Atioma.

Political career

Udo Oluchi Ibeji was elected to represent Ikwuano/Umuahia North/Umuahia South Federal Constituency of Abia State in the House of Representatives in the 2011 general election on the platform of the People's Democratic Party (PDP).

He served as a member of the 7th National Assembly from 2011 to 2015, participating in federal legislative activities as a representative of his constituency.

After completing his tenure in 2015, Ibeji left the National Assembly and remained involved in political activities in Abia State.
