About Trond Førde Eriksen

Born 1975. Trond Førde Eriksen is a Norwegian handball player.

Trond Førde Eriksen (born 3 June 1975) is a Norwegian former handball player and coach. He represented the Norway men's national handball team between 1997 and 2001 and was part of Norway's squads at the 1999 and 2001 World Championships.

Playing career

In a 2015 interview, Førde Eriksen described his playing career as having included Fyllingen, three years with Stavanger IF and two years with Viking, before he moved to Denmark as a full-time professional handball player. He also described himself as being from Mathopen in Bergen.

Club career

Førde Eriksen played for Viking Stavanger in the Norwegian top division. During the 1998–99 season, Viking competed in the EHF Champions League, where he scored 32 goals in the competition according to the European Handball Federation (EHF).

In the Champions League group stage, he scored 10 goals when Viking defeated Danish club GOG Gudme 34–26 in Stavanger in January 1999. He scored three goals in the return match against GOG in December 1998 and two goals against THW Kiel in the following match.

He also represented Viking in the EHF Cup during the 1999–2000 season.

Aalborg's annual report states that Førde Eriksen left the club at the end of the 2002–03 season.

He subsequently played for Stavanger Håndball. Contemporary reports from Stavanger in 2003 list him among the team's players.

In December 2003, Stavanger Aftenblad reported that Førde Eriksen had left Stavanger Håndball for Danish club Skjern. EHF records list him as a Skjern player in the EHF Cup during the 2004–05 season.

International career

Førde Eriksen made his debut for the Norway men's national handball team in 1997. According to the Norwegian Handball Federation, he made 27 senior international appearances and scored 35 goals between 1997 and 2001.

In the 2015 interview, Førde Eriksen also stated that he had made 21 appearances for Norway at junior level.

Coaching career

Following his playing career, Førde Eriksen continued his involvement in handball as a coach. In 2015, he was appointed head coach of the women's team of Kjøkkelvik, which competed in the Norwegian second division.

In the same interview, he said that he had previously coached both the men's and women's teams of Sotra SK, as well as several youth teams.

In 2015, Førde Eriksen became head coach of the women's team of Os, with Gitte Torp as assistant coach.
