Todd Achilles

Theodore B. "Todd" Achilles (born 1967/1968 ) is an American politician and U.S. Army veteran. He served as a member for the 16B district of the Idaho House of Representatives from 2024 to 2025. He is the co-founder of Veterans for Idaho Voters.

In the United States Army, Achilles served as a tank commander. He was appointed by Governor Brad Little to replace resigning representative Colin Nash in February 2024. He was then elected to that seat in November 2024. He resigned on July 1, 2025, to run for U.S. Senate in 2026 as an independent.

Military service Achilles served as an officer in the United States Army from 1992 to 1995, including service as a tank commander and armor officer. He deployed twice to the Persian Gulf. From 2017 to 2022, Achilles served as the chief executive officer of Evoca, a company that provided over-the-air subscription television service in the Boise, Phoenix, and Colorado Springs areas.

Idaho House of Representatives Achilles was registered as a Republican before February 2024. Achilles resigned from the Idaho House of Representatives in July 2025 to run for U.S. Senate. He says the U.S. military is a model for "nonpartisan leadership". He says "Idaho is very independent". The Spokesman-Review said Achilles criticized Republicans for "turning a blind eye while President Donald Trump and his family have used government power to enrich themselves." He criticized dynamic pricing and data mining, stating, "I may pay 20, 30% more than what you would pay."

Fiscal policy Achilles said he wants to reduce the national debt, and the federal deficit.

Foreign policy Achilles said the United States should withdraw from "forever wars".

Achilles criticized Republicans in U.S. Congress for supporting the 2026 Iran war.

Healthcare Achilles criticized the cuts to spending on Medicaid. He said, "that just really hits a rural state like ours."

As an Idaho state legislator, Achilles introduced a bill against non-compete clauses. The Idaho Statesman said such non-compete clauses had contributed to a shortage of doctors in Idaho.

Achilles is critical of the second Trump administration's approach to immigration enforcement.

Institutional reform Achilles says U.S. Congress should provide checks and balances. He says the two-party system undermined this.

Public lands Achilles supports more protection of public lands. He criticized DOGE for 2025 mass layoffs in the United States Forest Service and the Bureau of Land Management. He appeared at a protest against the cuts in March 2025. He now lives in Treasure Valley.
