The same year, she started working at the Ohio State University at Mansfield as Assistant Professor of Psychology, and she was promoted to Associate Professor in 1988, to Professor in 2010, and Professor Emeritus in 2015. She was co-editor of the third edition of Speaking of Sexuality: Interdisciplinary Readings (2010), of Current directions in sexuality and intimate relationships (2010), and of the 2011 and 2020 editions of Handbook of Sexuality-Related Measures.
She was elected Fellow of the Society for the Scientific Study of Sexuality in 2010.
Fisher is married and lives in Signal Mountain, Tennessee.
