Origins He was the eldest son of Richard Gorges of Eye by Elizabeth Rodd, a daughter of John Rodd of Hereford.

Marriage He married Frances Fettiplace (1735–1800), eldest daughter of Thomas Fettiplace of Swinbrooke, Oxfordshire.
