Awards and honors Spanish First National Prize of Telecommunication Engineers in 1994 "100 future leaders who will design Spain in the next decades" by El Capital Magazine in 2009. Best paper award in ACM Multimedia 2009 for her research on duplicate video detection. Best paper award of ACM MobileHCI 2009 for her research on comparing speech and text on mobile phones. Rising Talent by the Women's Forum for the Economy and Society. ACM RecSys 2012 best paper award on collaborative filtering. Profiled as one of nine female Spanish leaders in technology in 2012 by the Spanish newspaper El País. ACM ICMI Ten Year Technical Impact Award as one of the authors of a paper on layered graphical models of human behavior. The paper described a system that was able to discern the activity of a user based on evidence from video, acoustic and computer interactions.
