Jay Lepreau (March 27, 1952 – September 15, 2008) was an American computer scientist and a research professor at the University of Utah. He is best known as the creator of Emulab, a network emulation testbed He helped introduce Utah to UNIX, and by 1987 was the acting head of the Computer Science Department's computing facility, where he and his group worked on systems software such as the GNU compiler tools and the Mach operating system. To honor his contributions to computer systems, the University of Utah established a new faculty position, the Jay Lepreau Professorship of Computer Science.
