Harry Schwartz (September 10, 1919 – November 10, 2004) was an editorial writer for The New York Times from 1951 to 1979 and a specialist in Soviet and East European affairs.
Biography Schwartz was born in New York City on September 10, 1919, and was the valedictorian of his graduating class at Columbia College in 1940. He received his master's and doctorate from Columbia in 1941 and 1944, respectively.
Schwartz was the author of 22 books and thousands of articles, and widely lectured on Soviet economic policies, before switching his focus to healthcare economics.
Schwartz died on November 10, 2004, at his home in New Rochelle, New York at age 85.
