Gustavo Fernández (born 20 January 1994) is an Argentine professional wheelchair tennis player. Fernández has been ranked as the world No. 1 in men's singles.
He was just 17 months old when he suffered a spinal stroke (also known as Spinal Cord Infarction).
This event caused an irreversible spinal cord injury resulting in paraplegia, leaving him paralyzed from the waist down and dependent on a wheelchair.
In December 2025, he announced on Instagram that he and his partner, Florencia Tagliaferro, were expecting a baby boy whom they would call René.
Fernández has won major singles titles at the 2016 French Open, the 2017 Australian Open, the 2019 Australian Open, the 2019 French Open, and the 2019 Wimbledon Championships. In doubles, he has won major titles at the 2015 Wimbledon Championships partnering Nicolas Peifer, and the 2019 French Open and 2022 Wimbledon Championships partnering Shingo Kunieda.
Since mid to late 2025, he has played men's doubles with Tokito Oda. They won the 2025 US Open and the 2026 Australian Open and reached the final of Wimbledon 2026 where they lost to Alfie Hewett and Gordon Reid.
