Ganiyu Abiodun Johnson is a Nigerian politician and former member of the House of Representatives of Nigeria representing the Oshodi-Isolo II Federal Constituency in Lagos State.

Johnson was first elected into the Nigerian House of Representatives in 2019 to represent the Oshodi-Isolo II Federal Constituency in Lagos State but was defeated in 2023 to Jese Okey-Joe Onuakalusi of the Labour party.

He was Lagos state commissioner for works and infrastructure to Governor Akinwunm Ambode in 2015 before resigning to contest for the House of Representative seat in 2019.

Political career

Ganiyu Abiodun Johnson served as Special Adviser on Works and Infrastructure to Lagos State Governor Babatunde Fashola before he was appointed Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure by Governor Akinwunmi Ambode in 2015. He resigned as commissioner in 2017 to pursue elective office. Johnson won the 2019 general election, and was elected to represent Oshodi–Isolo II Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC). During his tenure in the National Assembly, he sponsored and supported legislative initiatives and carried out constituency outreach and empowerment programmes. He served until 2023.

Community impacts During his tenure as the member representing Oshodi–Isolo II Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Ganiyu Abiodun Johnson was associated with constituency initiatives focused on educational support, skills development, and livelihood assistance. These included support for students, vocational training programmes, and economic support initiatives for women, youths, artisans, and small business owners and was also in collaboration with relevant government agencies and partner organisations.

Awards and Recognition In 2016, Ganiyu Abiodun Johnson received an award from the Ikeja Branch of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) during its Engineering Week in recognition of his contributions to the engineering profession. In 2017, he was honoured by the Yoruba Tennis Club (YTC) in recognition of hispublic service and contributions toinfrastructure development in Lagos State. In 2018, Johnson again received a merit award from the Nigerian Society of Engineers in recognition of his contributions to the engineering profession.
