Education In 1968, he received his bachelor's degree in biochemistry from the University of Tokyo, Japan. He continued his studies in immunology under the supervision of Dr. Julia Levy at the University of British Columbia(UBC) where he received his Ph.D. in 1976. His thesis was focused on “Specific Suppressor Cells in Mice Bearing a Syngeneic Mastocytoma”
