Lieutenant-General Edward Chippindall, (4 October 1827 – 13 September 1902) was a British Army officer in the Crimean War and in various expeditions in British India.
Military career Chippindall was born in 1827, and had two brothers, Rev. J. Chippindall and Robert Chippindall.
Then followed 18 years of service in India, during which he received a brevet promotion to lieutenant-colonel on 9 March 1865. He commanded the 1st battalion of his regiment in the 1868 Hazara campaign, including the expedition against the tribes on the Black Mountain, for which he was mentioned in despatches, received the medal and was appointed a Companion of the Order of the Bath (CB). Receiving a substantive promotion to lieutenant-colonel on 7 March 1870, he was promoted to the rank of colonel on 14 August 1872.
