Deng Deng

Deng Angok Yak Deng (born 5 January 1992) is a South Sudanese-Australian professional basketball player for Dar City of the Tanzanian NBL. He also plays for the South Sudan national team.

Deng played three seasons of college basketball in the United States, two with Lee College and one with Baylor. He has played professionally in the NBA Development League, Qatar, Lebanon, Finland, Poland and Australia. He debuted in the National Basketball League (NBL) in 2018 with the Sydney Kings. He played for the Illawarra Hawks in 2020–21, then the Brisbane Bullets in 2021–22, and then returned to the Hawks in 2022–23.

Early life Deng was born in Sudan. He moved to Egypt at age four and then Australia at age nine. He attended Box Hill Senior Secondary College in Melbourne, Victoria. As a junior in 2014–15, he played 23 games for Baylor and averaged 2.9 points and 2.0 rebounds in 8.8 minutes.

In August 2015, Deng was ruled ineligible to play college basketball in 2015–16 due to his age. Despite his ineligibility, Baylor still honoured his scholarship so that he could complete his graduation requirements.

In October 2016, Deng re-joined the Texas Legends. The following month, he played four games in Lebanon for Tadamon Zouk. In 19 games for the Kings, he averaged 2.2 points per game. In 10 games to finish the PLK season, he averaged 12.5 points, 7.2 rebounds and 1.2 assists per game. He did not play in a game during the 2019–20 NBL season. In 39 games, he averaged 6.4 points and 3.8 rebounds per game.

On 10 July 2021, Deng signed with the Brisbane Bullets for the 2021–22 NBL season. He then returned to the Cobras for the 2022 NBL1 South season.

On 1 June 2022, Deng signed with the Illawarra Hawks for the 2022–23 NBL season, returning to the team for a second stint.

In the 2023 NBL1 season, Deng helped the Ipswich Force reach the NBL1 North grand final series, where they defeated the Gold Coast Rollers 2–1 to win the championship behind Deng's 41 points and 13 rebounds in game three.

Deng joined Ohud Medina of the Saudi Premier League for the 2023–24 season, where he averaged 17.7 points, 9.4 rebounds, 2.1 assists, 1.1 steals and 1.1 blocks in 18 games.

In October 2024, Deng joined Al Ahli Tripoli of the Libyan Division I Basketball League. In five BAL qualifying games, he averaged 19.2 points, 10.2 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 1.0 steals per game. He joined the team for the 2025 BAL season.

In April 2025, Deng joined Beirut Club of the Lebanese Basketball League.

Deng joined Dar City of the Tanzanian NBL for the 2025–26 season. In seven games, he averaged 4.6 points and 2.1 rebounds per game. and helped the country qualify for their first-ever World Cup after sealing their spot in the last qualifying round.
