Early life Sklansky grew up in Newport Beach, California.

Career Sklansky taught at U.C. Berkeley and UCLA before teaching at Stanford. Before teaching, he practiced labor law in Washington, D.C. and served as an Assistant United States Attorney in Los Angeles.
