Biography McCobb served as a councillor on Hull City Council for 24 years during which time he was a member of the cabinet.
At the 2019 United Kingdom general election, he worked on the campaign lead by Jo Swinson. He was campaign director in the 2021 North Shropshire by-election. At the 2024 United Kingdom local elections, he served as his party's director of field campaigns.
In the July 2026 political peerages, it was announced that he was to be made a life peer and will sit in the House of Lords for the Liberal Democrats.
