Doucet had six children with his wife Anna Dorcey. Much of his life and career were recorded in The Cat and St. Landry, a biography written in 1972 by Mary Alice Fontenot and Vincent Riehl. Doucet was inducted into the Louisiana Political Museum and Hall of Fame in 1999.
