Maureen Duvalier (14 May 192619 December 2014), also known by the stage names, Calypso Mama and Bahama Mama, was a Bahamian singer of blues and calypso music and a pioneer of junkanoo.
Early life Duvalier was born on 14 May 1926 on Burial Ground Corner in the Grants Town area of Nassau, Bahamas. and her father Eustace Edward Duvalier. Duvalier appears in the 1958 film Island Women credited as Maurine Duvalier.
Duvalier went onto become a tourism representative, travelling around the world, to promote the Bahamas. The funeral procession took the form of a junkanoo rush from the church to the Eastern Cemetery. Ask Me Why I Run Court House Scandal
