About Bahtiye Musluoğlu

Lived 1918 – 1999 (aged 80–81). Bahtiye Musluoğlu was a Turkish tennis player.

Bahtiye Musluoğlu (1918–1999) was a Turkish tennis player. Biography Born in 1918 in Bolu, she started playing tennis while studying in Ankara, where she became a skilled player and often trained with male players.

In the early 1940s, Musluoğlu's rival Mualla Gorodetzky dominated women's tennis. The two contested the final of the Turkish Championship for several years. In 1948, Musluoğlu defeated Gorodetzky to win her first national title in the Turkish Championship.

In 1950, she was invited to France by the French Tennis Federation. She achieved successful results in international tournaments, participating in many tournaments in Beirut and Athens. She died in 1999.

She played in singles at the French Open in 1950. She lost to the American player Margaret duPont in the Third Round. She is the first Turkish female tennis player to compete in a grand slam and win a match.
