Audrey Morris

Audrey Morris (November 12, 1928 – April 1, 2018) was an American singer and pianist during the 1950's who specialized in jazz ballads.

Early life Morris was born on November 12, 1928, in the South Side of Chicago, Illinois. She attended classical piano lessons in her childhood.

Career In 1950, she began performing in the Capitol Lounge and four years later began singing at the newly opened venue Mister Kelly's. Morris also made numerous appearances on Chicago television and radio stations. In 1985, she released the album Afterthoughts (with her husband Stu Genovese). By the mid-1980s, Morris' musical career had become so extensive that Oscar Peterson (a close friend of hers') referred to her as "a walking musical encyclopedia".
