Antonine de Gérando (also known as Antonina de Gérando Teleki; 13 February 1844–9 April 1914) was a French-born Hungarian translator, non-fiction writer, and educator.
Biography
Antonine (or Antonina) de Gérando was born in Paris on February 13, 1844. Her parents were the liberal historian and writer and the Hungarian Countess , niece of the educator and feminist Blanka Teleki.
Gérando completed her education in Paris, where she obtained a secondary school diploma. Her parents hosted prominent figures such as Jules Michelet; these encounters had a profound influence on her. She served as the head of the girls' secondary school in Kolozsvár until 1912.
Gérando published articles in various newspapers and journals, notably Paedogogia, Opposition, Journal de Dimanche, Revue internationale de l'enseignement, and La revue pédagogique.
She retired from her position as school principal in 1912.
Antonine de Gérando died on April 9, 1914, in Kolozsvár. She was buried at Hajongard cemetery.
