Career Rubens was first named in the Reds squad for the 2025 Super Rugby AUS competition, He had previously debuted against Tonga in August 2025. He was then named in the squad for the 2026 Super Rugby Pacific season. He made his debut for the Reds in the first round of the season against the .
In August 2026, the Reds announced that Rubens had signed a loan deal to join the Saitama Wild Knights of Japan until November 2026, where he would rejoin the Reds on their tour of Italy.
