William Drummond Naftel (1 October 194029 April 2018) was a Canadian writer and historian from Nova Scotia. His 2008 book Halifax at War was the winner of the Evelyn Richardson Award, the Dartmouth Book Award for Non-Fiction, and the Democracy 250 Atlantic Book Award for Historical Writing.
Biography William D. Naftel was born on 1 October 1940 in Edmonton, Alberta. He attended the University of King's College and Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia, following which he began a 30-year career with Parks Canada as a senior historian and manager.
