Teague Egan

Teague Egan (born July 6, 1988) is an American businessman and the founder and chief executive officer of Energy Exploration Technologies (EnergyX), a lithium extraction technology company. Egan began his career in music and sports management. In October 2010, aged 22, he became a contract advisor certified by the National Football League Players Association, the first person certified by the union before graduating college; the union revoked his certification that December after he gave an impermissible benefit to a University of Southern California football player. He founded EnergyX in 2018 and has led its development of direct lithium extraction projects in Chile, Texas, Arkansas and Utah.

Early life and education Egan was born on July 6, 1988 and raised in South Florida. His father, Michael Egan, founded Alamo Rent a Car.

Career Egan founded 1st Round Enterprises in 2008 while an undergraduate at USC, promoting music events in Los Angeles. In 2009 he co-founded the independent record label 1st Round Records with Zack Johnson. The label released Boston's Boy, the 2010 debut EP by rapper Sammy Adams, which reached number one on the iTunes hip-hop chart and number 73 on the Billboard 200.

In October 2010, at the age of 22, Egan became a certified contract advisor with the National Football League Players Association while still an undergraduate, the first person certified by the union before graduating college.

On December 3, 2010, the NFLPA revoked Egan's certification. Union spokesman George Atallah said a review of Egan's qualifications had found he was "not fit to be a certified contract advisor."

In 2021 EnergyX raised $20 million from Obsidian Acquisition Partners, Helios Capital and other investors, and was one of eight companies shortlisted by the government of Bolivian president Luis Arce to deploy DLE technology in the country. EnergyX deployed a pilot plant at the Salar de Uyuni in December 2021. In June 2022, Reuters reported that EnergyX had been dropped from Bolivia's lithium selection process.

Egan sits on the board of directors of the Thomas E. Smith Foundation and co-founded Dance For Paralysis, its outreach division. In 2015 he and Thomas E. Smith completed a 2,109-mile bicycle ride from Boston to Miami over 38 days, raising $100,000 for The Miami Project to Cure Paralysis.
