About Susan Carleton Jones

Lived 1864 – 1926 (aged 61–62). Susan Carleton Jones was a Canadian writer.

Susan Carleton Jones (June 25, 1865 – July 20, 1926) was a Canadian novelist and short story writer.

Susan Morrow was born on 1864 in Halifax, Nova Scotia, the daughter of Robert Morrow and Helen Sophia Stairs. In 1899, she married her first cousin, Guy Carleton Jones, who became the 4th Canadian Surgeon General. His sisters were the writer Alice Jones and the painter Frances Jones Bannerman.

Some of her work is difficult to attribute due to pseudonyms shared with her sister Helen Morrow Paske Duffus. It is now thought that works published under the name Helen Milecete may have been written entirely by Helen Morrow and works published under the name Carleton-Milecete were likely collaborations between the two. In "The Frenchwoman's Son" (1904), a man struggles with his mixed-race heritage. (as Helen Milecete) A Girl of the North: A Story of London and Canada. 1 vol. London: Greening and Co., 1900. (as S. Carleton) "The Sound of the Axe," Atlantic Monthly, October 1902. (as S. Carleton) "The Clasp of Rank," The Thrill Book, April 1, 1919
