Simon Eliot

Simon Eliot is a British historian of the book. He is Professor Emeritus of the History of the Book and a Senior Research Fellow at the Institute of English Studies, School of Advanced Study, University of London.

Eliot previously taught at the Open University, where he was involved in establishing its MA in Literature. He was a co-founder and the second president of the Society for the History of Authorship, Reading and Publishing, and was the founding director of the London Rare Books School.

He was general editor of the four-volume History of Oxford University Press (2013–2017), and co-edited A Companion to the History of the Book with Jonathan Rose.
