Robert A. Weiss

Robert A. Weiss is an American dermatologist who has served as the president of the American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery,

Education Weiss received a Bachelor of Arts from Columbia University before earning an MD from the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in 1978. Weiss is board certified by the American Board of Dermatology and has prepared examination questions for the board. He also serves as the Fellowship Director for the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery (ASDS) cosmetic fellowship program, mentoring dermatology fellows in advanced energy and injection treatments. Weiss was an associate professor of dermatology at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine from 1986 to 2013, Weiss conducts research as a principal investigator for phase II and phase III FDA clinical trials concerning botulinum toxins, dermal fillers, and energy-based devices, and his trials have supported FDA clearances for lasers used to reverse photoaging.

Weiss served as president of the American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery from 2015 to 2016, and was president of the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery in 2008; he is also a past president of the American College of Phlebology. He has co-authored several medical textbooks on phlebology and laser devices, and holds multiple U.S. patents related to tissue compression and endovenous vein treatments.

Weiss has provided dermatologic commentary for 20/20, The Today Show, and Baltimore local news broadcasts. He has been quoted regarding cosmetic procedures in Harper's Bazaar, The New York Times, and The Baltimore Sun.
