2023–2025: Independent releases In 2023, Mahesh released her debut album under the Quiet Light moniker, titled Blue Angel Sparkling Silver. The same year she issued two further full-length projects, Fourth of July and I Love You Because You're In Love With The World; the latter had originally been conceived as the debut of a separate project named Blue Angel Sparkling Silver, before Mahesh consolidated her output under the Quiet Light name.

2026–present: True Panther and Blue Angel Sparkling Silver 2 Mahesh's signing to True Panther—the independent label behind artists such as Oklou, Grace Ives and Model/Actriz—was announced on 19 February 2026. The label's founder, Dean Bein, compared her attitude toward music-making to that of King Krule, another artist he had worked with early in his career.

Blue Angel Sparkling Silver 2, a twelve-track mixtape conceived as a companion to her 2023 album, was released on 24 April 2026 alongside a music video for the track "You Say I Love You" and a short run of release shows. Its opening track, "Star100", reworks her 2024 song "Love90". Mahesh said the mixtape was written after her shifts at the hospital, describing it as a record "for people who dream about what their life could be like".

The release brought Mahesh's music to wider attention. Reviewing the mixtape for Pitchfork, Harry Tafoya rated it 7.5 out of 10 and called it "her most refined yet". Writing in Paste, Grace Robins-Somerville likened the record to a sonic collage as fragile and mutable as memory, praising its blurring of fantasy and reality. The Quietus highlighted the coherence of the Quiet Light project and the sense of longing underpinning the record.

Artistry Quiet Light's music has been variously described as indie folk, folktronica, experimental folk-pop, dream pop and bedroom pop; Stereogum compared her processed vocal style to the early work of Grimes. Her self-produced records typically pair sparse folk songwriting with ambient and electronic textures, and are frequently interspersed with voice memos and fragments of recorded conversation.

A classically trained pianist and vocalist, Mahesh has cited folk and pop songwriters including Joni Mitchell, Gillian Welch, the Byrds and the Mamas & the Papas as influences, alongside pop producers such as Charli XCX and A. G. Cook. She has said that she wants her songs to work as storytelling in a folk tradition while feeling "like a dream sequence". Her lyrics draw on themes including love, bodies of water, death and cathedrals. Mahesh has called Blue Angel Sparkling Silver the "truest version" of herself as an artist, citing its combination of free-form ambient structures with pop elements.

Personal life Mahesh has pursued a medical degree concurrently with her music career, enrolling in medical school in 2020 and later training at the University of Massachusetts; her clinical rotations have included work in a neurology intensive care unit. Press coverage has frequently noted the contrast between the two halves of her life, with The Fader reporting in 2024 that her hospital colleagues were unaware of her musical career. As of 2026, she was completing her medical training in Massachusetts and planning a move to Los Angeles.
