Pur Bahadur Gurung (known as Yukta or Yukta Tamu) (; 23 December 1988 – 30 July 2026) was a Nepalese mountaineer and expedition guide, who had successfully climbed Mount Everest 10 times and also climbed 12 of the world’s 14 highest mountains. He completed a total of 28 ascents on mountains above 8,000 metres.
Early life Born in 1988 in northern Gorkha, he spent his childhood in the shadow of the Himalayas. Dreaming of joining the British Army, he was unable to pursue that ambition because of the Nepalese Civil War. He left home at a young age to work at a hotel in Manang, where he came into contact with trekking guides. Inspired by their profession, he later moved to Kathmandu to pursue a career as a trekking guide.
