Soviet resistance On 18 July 1986, a regime-staged court proceeding in Kabul sentenced Panah Khan to death in absentia, along with other resistance commanders Ahmad Shah Massoud, Ismail Khan, Alaudin Khan, Haqqani and Sayed Mansour Hussainyar.
