About Ooni Degbinsokun
Ooni Degbinsokun, also known as Degbin Kùmbúsù, was the 43rd Ooni of Ife, the traditional ruler of Ile-Ife, regarded in Yoruba tradition as the ancestral homeland of the Yoruba people. He succeeded Adegunle Adewela as Ooni and was later succeeded by his son, Ooni Orarigba.
Ancestry
According to Yoruba royal genealogies, Degbinsokun was a son of Adesunmakin, a descendant of Ooni Agbedegbede, who was himself descended from Ooni Giesi. His brother was Derin Ologbenla, who also later became Ooni of Ife. He was also related to Ooni Gbegbaaje, who was the brother of his father, Adesunmakin.
Succession
Degbinsokun was succeeded on the throne by his son, Ooni Orarigba, continuing the hereditary royal lineage of the House of Oduduwa in Ile-Ife.
